The Nemeas are named after the athletic Games at Nemea that were established in 573 BC and were held every two years. Events included various foot races on the stadium track - like the hoplitodromos which was run in full hoplite armour - wrestling, boxing and the pentathlon - running-discus-javelin-wrestling-long jump. The victors received a crown of wild celery.
The Nemeas got named after these games for their versatility. They feature a 6 mm Vibram SuperNewflex sole with a multidirectional honeycomb tread pattern. The sole has a soft and bouncy feel and provides grip on both road and trail. The footbed is made of 0,8 mm PU rubber with a fine honeycomb pattern. It is comfortable, grippy and easy to clean. The combination makes the Nemeas ideal if you're looking for a first pair of go-everywhere barefoot sandals. The Nemeas are designed for light all-round use. For heavier use like on technical trails we recommend our trail sandals or the Zaros. For road races we recommend the lighter and sturdier Samos.
Like all Panta sandals the Nemeas feature the 3-in-1 strap system. One continuous strap is fixed to the sole with a full metal plug. A single sliding buckle gives you three options for wearing. They're shipped as pictured in what we call the diagonal-fixed set-up. This is the most all-round set-up that we've chosen as the standard set-up for our sandals.
GROUNDING OPTION The Nemeas are available with a grounding option. When you choose this option, a smooth conductive thread is woven into the toe-strap (see photo). This connects the metal fastener underneath the sandal with your feet and enables the transfer of free electrons between the earth and your body. Please note that the easiest way to ground yourself to the earth is to walk barefoot.
